About
the Bed & Breakfast I About the Owner
Welcome to our Puerto Rican escape! Here in Playa Hucares, Naguabo you can leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind for the tranquility of rural Puerto Rico. This quaint fishing village in Eastern Puerto Rico offers a festive malecon (boardwalk) of restaurants and bars featuring freshly caught seafood and refreshing Pina Coladas.
Our bed and breakfast, Casa Libre Puerto Rico, is situated one block from the water, where you can either walk down to the fishing docks or head over to the waterfront boardwalk to sample the "catch of the day." Or you can step right outside your bedroom door and take a dip in our pool, which overlooks the bay.
Casa Libre is a great place to relax in the shade under our umbrellas by the pool. You can catch up on your leisure reading, share a cold a beer or sip an exotic cocktail. Soon you will be able to enjoy breakfast al fresco by the pool on our new deck and bar area. We will also be adding a laundry room for your convenience. Proprieter, Josue D. Rivera, is a Puerto Rican native who lived in California but returned to Puerto Rico to share his homeland with all of you. He is happy to arrange day tours to the tropical rainforests, sandy beaches, historical landmarks, or city night life. Josue speaks both English and Spanish.
Patti Swanson is a third generation California girl who first came to Puerto Rico in 1993 and returned in 2004 when her kids were grown. Now, instead of waking up to the rush of the commute, she wakes to the sound of the roosters and the fishermen getting their boats ready for the day's catch. After a morning swim in the pool, a cup of delicious Puerto Rican coffee and fresh guava or pineapple pastry and she is ready to cook her guests a fabulous breakfast -- just the thing to start them on their way to discovering Puerto Rico, La Isla del Encanto!
Dawn Betz, Josue's girlfriend, from Livermore, CA. has joined the Casa Libre family. She is the resident artist who has paintings in all the rooms and also does fused glass art. Soon there will be murals depicting Puerto Rican heritage and Taino art throughout the house.
